      PHASE 1: Braam Botha Architectural Studio has focused almost solely on timber structures since 1988.  
      Design,  documentation, and supervision of erection of log homes and other timber buildings to our clients’ requirements is our speciality. Our website reflects popular designs tested in various projects over many years, in most provinces of SA and Southern African countries like Mozambique, Angola and Zambia.

      Some notes on ‘green’ and eco-friendly design :  the local climate is one of the first factors to take into account and we agree with others that passive solar design is just sensible good design. We take into consideration the solar heat, light, cooling and ventilation that is already part of your property. Integration into and utilising the natural landscape is the first big step toward green design.

       

       

      Standard Designs or Custom Architecture

       

      You may want to choose one of our standard designs as seen on this website. We reserve the right to certain modifications or specification changes, without prior notice, as circumstances may dictate.
      You are welcome to submit an own design to our design team for professional advice. We offer full professional services as regulated by the SA Institute for Architects and can be appointed to custom design according to your requirements.
      We take pride in our designs and plans and know that you will respect the time it may take to present you with full documentation. Each design takes hundreds of hours which could include the services of architects, specialist advice of structural, civil and water engineers, land surveyors, town council officials, legal advisors, home energy specialists, earth moving, landscape architects and eco friendly home experts.

       

      Once you decide on a design and specs, we will supply you with a full written quotation, detailing all items, for your approval and signature.

      Municipal Documentation

       

      As with any other structure, a timber home must comply to all municipal regulations and approvals. We will assist you in submitting plans to your local municipality for approval.

       

      The South African Council for the Architectural Profession dictates and determines architect fees. There are 5 stages to the building process - payment of architect fees are calculated accordingly. These stages are described in "Recommended Tarriffs and Fees", published by SACAP.
