TIMBER USED IN LOG STRUCTURESThe logs are manufactured from Pinus Radiata, a slow growing species from the KNYSNA plantations. Pinus Radiata is well known for its density, structural strength and durability. The window and doorframes are Meranti. Structural poles are Saligna, and decking and flooring is pine, saligna or various other wood types. When comparing different companies or suppliers, be sure to take these factors into account - keep in mind the size and quality of logs used, the appearance you want for your home, the companys' reputation and the services they can provide to you.

MAINTENANCEMinimal maintenance is required due to the pre-treatment of the timber in vacuum cylinders according to all SABS specifications against decay, fungal and insect attack. 18 – 36 Months’ maintenance with a reputable exterior timber sealer is advised, according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. This does not require professionals, simply brushing the house with soap and water to get rid of dirt coating, and applying a fresh coat of sealer. As for any home, take a yearly walk around and address any concerns. It is important to keep the logs clean and free from overgrowth. |
